Microsoft faces global outage: Outlook, Teams crash for millions of users

Microsoft Teams and Outlook users have reported service issues with both platforms, all around the world. Users have been facing outages on Wednesday.

The American tech giant has confirmed that there is a ‘Service Degradation’ in which multiple services are impacted including Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business, Outlook, PowerBi and more.

According to Downdetector there was a spike in problem reports on Wednesday afternoon, the website states “Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day.”

Outage reports spiked in Australia, Britain, and the United Arab Emirates. Thousands of users have also reported the outages in India and Japan.

Multiple sources across companies in Dubai have confirmed to Arabian Business that they are unable to send or receive emails through Outlook.

Microsoft has responded to the outage with information that investigations are being conducted on the outages on multiple service platforms. The company has identified the problem to be networking configuration issues.

Another Microsoft update tweet read “We’ve isolated the problem to networking configuration issues, and we’re analyzing the best mitigation strategy to address these without causing additional impact. Refer to the admin center MO502273 or https://status.office365.com for more information.”

Microsoft Azure, the cloud platform, is reportedly also facing an outage.

‘Teams’ is currently trending on Twitter with thousands of users and counting, taking to Twitter to share outrage about the situation.
