Ten people, including a three-year-old boy, were killed as a speeding minibus crashed into the back of a truck loaded with steel bars in Egypt’s Nile Delta, the official MENA news agency reported Sunday.
The minibus driver lost control, slamming his vehicle into the truck. He was killed on the spot, along with nine others, including the boy, while 11 other people were seriously injured, it said.
The injured are in intensive care units of hospitals around the town of Banha, north of the capital, MENA said.
Egyptian roads are among the most dangerous in the world. Around 6,000 people die each year in accidents and 30,000 are injured, according to the transport ministry.
Most accidents are caused by speeding and flouting the rules of the road.
