Emirates Airline will reportedly be the first operator of the new Boeing 777X aircraft.
Emirates president Tim Clark told Air Transport World (ATW) that he expects to take delivery of the first aircraft in early 2020.
ATW said the delivery means that Emirates will jump ahead of Lufthansa and become the widebody’s launch operator.
“I believe we will be the first to receive the aircraft in early 2020.It will replace the 777-300ER as they retire,” Clark said in an email to ATW.
At the Dubai Air Show in 2013, Emirates announced commitments for 150 777X aircraft and finalized its order for 115 777-9Xs and 35 longer-range 777-8Xs the following year.
