Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will award people with a total of AED 100,000 in cash prizes to mark Public Transportation Day on November 1.
“Five users of public transport (one of them from the People of Determination) will be selected as winners of prizes amounting to AED 100,000,” said Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency and chairman of the organising committee of RTA’s Public Transport Day events.
An additional five people – all of them RTA employees – will be given prizes amounting to AED 50,000.
“Moreover, using public transport means in Dubai during the lead-up of the campaign starting on October 22 and continuing up to November 1 will earn triple the loyalty points of nol Plus,” Bahrozyan added. “Thus, is boosts the chances of winning cash prizes and rewards.”
Additionally, Bahrozyan said that RTA is attempting to gather the “largest possible number of multinational riders comprising the biggest number of nationalities” at Etisalat Metro Station in a bid to break a Guinness World Record.
Additionally, ‘people with determination’ will be transported from Rashidiya Metro Station to Jafiliya Metro Station and on to Dubai’s Etihad Museum, where they will be given a tour.
Other activities include the distribution of Nol cards to 100 tourists to allow them to enter Dubai while a luggage handling company, Moving Hands Free Dubz, transports their luggage for them, as well as a online video challenge for university students and a ‘matching halves’ contest in which participants must find someone in possession of a second half of an image on a Nol card.
