Air Arabia has announced plans to increase flights to the Indian subcontinent.

The low-cost carrier will introduce two weekly additional flights for services to Kathmandu and Nepal on September 1. A further three departures to Chittagong in Bangladesh will also be added the same day.

Kyle Haywood, commercial director, Air Arabia, said: “Nepal and Bangladesh are important markets for Air Arabia, and by increasing the number of flights to these countries, we serve the growing demand for low-cost flights to South Asia.

“The main purpose behind our expansion there is to demonstrate to our customers across the Middle East, Bangladesh and Nepal our commitment to their needs.”

Sharjah-based Air Arabia provides four weekly flights to Kathmandu, which leave at 7:15am and arrive at 12:45pm. The return journey departs Kathmandu at 13:30pm, arriving in Sharjah at 16:30pm local time.

The Chittagong service operates twice a week, increasing to five flights from September. Apart from Wednesdays and Fridays, passengers will be able to board Chittagong flights every day.
