As Dubai’s schools reopen, Careem revealed to Arabian Business, a few strategies to combat traffic congestion and improve commutes for students and parents.
The ride-hailing service currently offers pre-booking options, real-time traffic updates, and specialised school rides to address the perennial challenge of back-to-school traffic.
That said, Careem has shared advice for passengers to avoid traffic and stay comfortable while travelling in the UAE.
Careem offers tips for smooth travel in UAE
“We understand that traffic during peak hours can be straining for anyone on the road. When customers choose to book a Careem ride, they are able to see estimated ETAs along with fare estimates based on the time of the day, traffic conditions and availability. We always recommend that customers plan their trips ahead of time and try to avoid busy peak hours,” Antonio Al Asmar, General Manager at Careem told Arabian Business.
Al Asmar added that customers can also take advantage of the ‘Scheduled rides’ option on the app, thus removing “the stress of finding a ride on-demand and offers reliable guaranteed bookings when made in advance at the push of a button any time of the day.”
In addition, Al Asmar advised customers to use the time “to catch up with loved ones or listen to music, enjoying city views from the back seat.”
Safety ‘priority’ for Careem Rides users
The app provides timely traffic updates by factoring demands and conditions into fare quotes and ETAs. Careem works closely with local authorities on road safety too, Al Asmar said.
“The safety of everyone who uses Careem Rides is a priority for us. Therefore, we always monitor traffic conditions closely, following local official directions on road safety and communicating regularly with both Captains and customers,” he explained adding that during emergencies, passenger safety is the top priority.
“In the unlikely event of an accident during a trip, customers’ first priority should be their safety and the safety of others involved and seeking medical attention for any injuries. Once in a safe location, customers and Captains should immediately contact our 24/7 in-app support team to report the incident,” he said.
