Dubai Airports, which operates Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered Material Requirement Planning tool to better forecast spare parts demands.
The tool analyses real-time data to predict the future consumption of spare parts for maintenance works.
The MRP tool has increased forecasting accuracy by 30 percent, enabling precise inventory planning and a 12 percent reduction in excess stock held.
This optimisation enhances capital usage and ensures resources are available when required.
Dubai Airports’ AI-powered inventory management
“We leveraged AI and real-time data to streamline our inventory management, improve efficiency and enhance the quality of service we provide to our key customers, both our internal business functions and the millions of guests who travel through the airport. As the first airport in the region and the first government entity in Dubai to implement this system, it underscores our commitment to innovation and operational excellence,” Emmanuel Augustin, VP of Supply Management at Dubai Airports said.
Improved forecasting has led to a 24 percent rise in service levels, allowing quicker facility maintenance response times and a better guest experience. Ageing work orders have fallen 82 percent, ensuring prompt maintenance to minimise downtime.
The inventory ordering process is now automated, integrating purchase requisitions and cutting manual workloads by 400 percent.
Advanced analytics provide strengthened decision-making and adherence to regulations, maintaining operational excellence and compliance standards.
