Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authorities (RTA) has announced the introduction of a new service for the delivery of driving licenses and vehicle registration cards in under two hours.

The two-hour delivery service is applicable for residents of Dubai. Those residing in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi can benefit from same-day delivery.

Additionally, a new service has been added for forwarding consignments to customers overseas.

The services were announced via Twitter on Tuesday.

“RTA seeks to make people happier and sustain the ongoing improvements in serving motorists which are applying for the renewal of Driving Licenses,” the announcement read.

On Sunday, Dubai’s RTA announced electric driverless abras.

The craft was manufactured locally at RTA’s Al Garhoud Marine Maintenance Centre, featuring a design that preserve the heritage identity of abras.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA said, “The operation of the Autonomous Electric Abra is in line with RTA’s efforts to achieve Dubai’s Strategy for Self-Driving Transport that aims to convert 25 per cent of the total mobility journeys in Dubai into self-driving journeys by 2030.”
