Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on Wednesday it will begin the test-run for free wi-fi service in taxis from December with the interactive screens allowing them to calculate their fares in advance.
The fleet of Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has commenced fitting the interactive LCD touch screens and offering free wi-fi service in line with Dubai government’s strategy to rank the emirate as the smartest city worldwide.
“Customers will also be able, for the first time, calculate taxi fares in advance,” Dr Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, chief executive officer, Dubai Taxi Corporation, said.
The touch screens will also allow customers to have a preview major tourist attractions and various RTA services.
