Dubai’s exclusive toll operator, Salik Company PJSC, has revealed that it is to team up with energy and digital automation solutions specialist Schneider Electric and electric vehicle (EV) charging point operator Vcharge to develop a nationwide EV charging network.

Announced on 6 November 2025, the collaboration will deploy smart and scalable EV charging systems across more than 1,800 locations throughout the UAE, marking a major step in advancing the UAE’s sustainable transport infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Schneider Electric will supply advanced chargers through its channel partner Vcharge, while Salik will integrate the charging network with its E-Wallet platform to enable seamless, cashless payments.

The system will allow EV drivers to plug in and charge instantly using their Salik accounts, without the need for separate apps, cards or registration processes. Vcharge will manage installation, software integration and ongoing maintenance to ensure reliability and high operational efficiency.

Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, Chief Executive Officer of Salik Company PJSC, said the initiative reflects Salik’s role in shaping the future of mobility through innovation and customer-focused digital solutions. “By integrating EV charging with Salik’s E-Wallet for simple, cashless payments, we are enhancing convenience for our users while advancing the UAE’s vision for smarter, more sustainable mobility in line with Net Zero 2050,” he said.

Amel Chadli, President for Gulf Countries at Schneider Electric, said the partnership highlights the UAE’s leadership in clean transport innovation. “The UAE’s mobility landscape is at an inflection point. This collaboration brings together Schneider Electric’s smart charging technology and Salik’s innovative payment ecosystem to enable infrastructure that’s both scalable and user-centric,” she said.

Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Chief Executive Officer of Vcharge, added that the initiative aims to make EV charging “a zero-hassle, seamless experience — arrive, plug in, go.”

The collaboration supports the UAE’s goal of having 10% of all cars electric by 2030, as part of its Net Zero by 2050 strategy. The country’s EV market is projected to reach around AED7.16 billion by 2025, with electric vehicles expected to make up more than 15% of new car sales by 2030.
