FedEx enhances express freight service

FedEx’s international priority freight service is undergoing a major expansion, with coverage extended to 39 additional countries in the Middle East, Europe, Indian subcontinent and Africa.

FedEx’s international priority freight service is undergoing a major expansion, with coverage extended to 39 additional countries in the Middle East, Europe, Indian subcontinent and Africa.

The service, which was launched in 1994, guarantees on-time airfreight delivery for international shipments within one or three business days. As FedEx has access to more than 110 countries, this expansion increases express freight coverage to over 90% of the world’s GDP.

“With international trade volume growing at more than 6% per year over the past decade, the expansion of fast and reliable airfreight services is essential to businesses. FedEx Express Freight allows them to avoid carrying expensive inventory while still meeting their customers’ immediate needs,” said Hamdi Osman, FedEx senior vice president for the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Africa (MENA) region.

The service is supported by leading-edge technology, which is designed to provide customers with increased efficiency in supply chain management, especially in terms of greater transparency in the movement of goods.

“FedEx technology and customer tools show the realtime location of any package within the global network, and identify which documents are needed to ship to and from specific countries,” added Osman. “This technology, when combined with the expanded FedEx freight service, allows companies to reduce transportation and overall inventory costs, providing them with a unique solution for their urgent freight shipment needs.”
