Gulf Air passengers will be able to connect through Istanbul Airport to Budapest, Prague, Venice and Vienna, as well as Rize in Turkey, under the expanded arrangement.

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has expanded its codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, strengthening cooperation between the two carriers and widening access to key European destinations via Istanbul.

Under the expanded arrangement, Gulf Air passengers will be able to connect through Istanbul Airport to Budapest, Prague, Venice and Vienna, as well as Rize in Turkey, offering greater flexibility and a broader range of travel options when flying between the Middle East, Europe and Turkey.

The enhanced partnership leverages Istanbul Airport’s role as a major international hub, enabling passengers to travel on a single itinerary with coordinated schedules across the shared routes.

Gulf Air broadens access via Istanbul

Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Martin Gauss said the expanded codeshare provides customers with more choice and smoother connections when travelling to Europe and Turkey via Istanbul, adding that the partnership helps bring additional cities within reach through a seamless travel experience.

“By expanding our codeshare with Turkish Airlines, we are giving our passengers access to more destinations across Europe and Turkey via Istanbul, with greater choice and flexibility when planning their journeys,” Gauss said.

“By leveraging Istanbul Airport as a major connection hub, we can bring more cities within reach through a single, seamless itinerary in partnership with Turkish Airlines. Our coordinated schedules are designed to deliver smoother connections and a more streamlined travel experience for our customers across these shared routes.”

Turkish Airlines Chief Executive Officer Bilal Ekşi said the expansion deepens cooperation between the two airlines while further reinforcing Istanbul’s position as a leading global aviation hub.

“We are pleased to deepen the cooperation with Gulf Air through this codeshare expansion, thus continuing to enhance Istanbul’s role as a leading global hub. We believe this expanded collaboration will provide added value for our guests through improved connectivity,” he said.

The extended codeshare agreement strengthens Gulf Air’s network while maintaining Bahrain’s role as a regional gateway, supporting both business and leisure travel through improved connectivity across Europe and Turkey.
