Indian budget airline IndiGo has announced commencing direct flight operations between North Goa and Abu Dhabi.
The flights will be operated tri-weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The airline said the new flight service was launched to cater to the escalating travel demand between Goa and the Middle East.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, said the airline was extremely pleased to commence operations between the popular seaside destination of North Goa (Mopa Airport) and the majestic skyscraper-filled city of Abu Dhabi.
“Over the years, we have witnessed a mounting demand for travel to the UAE, a demand that has only intensified in the post-pandemic era. As India’s largest carrier, we are driven to meet this demand by connecting these two prominent tourist hubs,” Malhotra said.
With the addition of the new flights from Goa, IndiGo will fly 52 times a week to Abu Dhabi from 8 cities in India.
Currently, IndiGo provides direct connectivity between five major Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, and Hyderabad – and Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, is renowned for its lavish shopping centers, impressive architecture, and cultural landmarks, Goa, one of India’s most popular tourist destinations, is known for its pristine beaches, vibrant nightlife, and a rich blend of cultural practices influenced by Portuguese, Maharashtrian, and Konkani heritage.
Visitors flock to Goa from all over the country and beyond to experience its beaches, majestic carnivals, churches, delicacies, and forts, including Baga, Candolim, Calangute, Morjim, Arambol, Anjuna, Bom Jesus, Saint Cathedral, St. Francis, Chapel of St. Catherine, and more.
