Nasair announces expansion plans

Saudi budget airline confirms 8 new destinations with more to come in second half of year.

Saudi budget airline Nasair unveiled expansion plans on Tuesday at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), being held in Dubai through May 8.CEO Walter Prenzler confirmed eight new destinations, including Kuwait (from Riyadh and Jeddah), Dammam, Damascus, Latakia, Sana’a, Sharm ElSheikh and Assiut.

He added that more destinations will be launched in the second half of the year.

Three of the new destinations have already been launched – to Dammam, Damascus and Kuwait (from Riyadh) – while two will be launched in a week’s time – Riyadh to Latakia and Jeddah to Kuwait.

Services to the other 3 destinations – Sana’a in Yemen and Sharm ElSheikh and Assiut in Egypt – will commence in a month’s time.

Nasair operates more than 300 flights a week to 20 destinations, both within Saudi Arabia and to regional cientres including Beirut, Alexandria, Amman, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Damascus and Kuwait.

The air carrier currently has a fleet of 10 aircraft, comprising 6 Airbus A320’s and 4 Embraer 190/195.

An additional Airbus A320 is due to be added to the fleet next week.
