The Riyadh Metro has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s longest fully automated, driverless metro network.
The title was awarded to Riyadh Metro (KSA) on 30 January 2025, officially recognising its 176-kilometre route as the longest driverless metro system in the world.
The achievement underscores the Kingdom’s rapid progress in developing advanced, sustainable transport systems as part of its Vision 2030 transformation agenda.

The Riyadh Metro forms the backbone of the capital’s integrated public transport project and consists of six lines serving 85 stations across the city. The network operates without drivers, using advanced control systems that oversee all operations through central command centres.
