Royal Jordanian has announced the suspension of its route between Amman and Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, after eight years of operations.
The decision comes in line with the airline’s five-year business plan which looks at network restructuring.
The carrier said in a statement that tourism and air transportation between Jordan and Ukraine has lately seen a “noticeable regression”, affecting the feasibility of the route.
RJ added that it continuously studies performance to take the appropriate decision, either by increasing frequency, decreasing it, open new markets or halting routes.
Recently, it suspended routes to Delhi, Mumbai, Colombo, Lagos, Accra, Alexandria and Milano.
The airline said in the statement that it continues to search for more opportunities and new markets to broaden the route network, increase revenues and connect Jordan with more cities.
In the past year, RJ has added five new destinations to its network including Tabuk, Najaf, Ankara, Jakarta and Guangzhou.
Today, RJ operates directly to 55 destinations spread over four continents, and reaches more than 1,000 cities.
