King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh topped the list of Saudi Arabian airports in terms of performance, handling more than 15 million passengers annually, with a performance rate of 82 per cent, according to an official report.
Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport came in second with a performance rate of 73 per cent, according to the monthly report for September 2024 by the country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
The civil aviation regulator assesses the performances of the country’s international and domestic airports according to 11 basic performance measurement criteria.
The report is aimed at assessing the implementation of the strategic directions to improve the services provided to travellers, raise their level, and enhance the traveller’s experience at the Kingdom’s airports.
The airports are divided into five categories for assessment purposes.
King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jizan, Al-Ahsa International Airport and Al-Qurayyat Airport are the other airports which achieved advanced positions in the report in the top category.
In the second category of international airports with a passenger traffic of 5 to 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam ranked first with a score of 91 per cent, followed by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina.
In the third category of international airports with a passenger traffic of 2 to 5 million passengers annually, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jizan ranked first with a 100 per cent commitment rate, the report said.
