Thai Airways has increased cargo services on its passenger aircrafts to the Middle East.
Daily flights between Bangkok and Muscat, in addition to 11 flights per week from Bangkok to Dubai, will now offer space for cargo on the belly of the aircrafts.
“This expansion has resulted from a long study we conducted into the increased demand for cargo space between the Far East, Middle East and Europe,” said Jeffrey Pereira, cargo sales executive, Thai Airways.
“We believe the location of the Middle East can be utilised as an airfreight transportation hub, connecting the Far East to Europe and various cities in Middle East. There will be plenty of space to grow in this region,” he added.
The cargo service will be served by a Boeing 747-200F for three flights a week between Bangkok and Dubai. The total capacity for each flight is 100 tonnes with the total capacity for cargo service between the two cities increasing to 600 tonnes per week.
“We are sure that many people in the air cargo industry will agree that the airlines in the Middle East are the ones with outstanding performance and growth. We like to think about being partners more than competitors with them,” said Pereira.
