Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways has partnered with hospital operator Mediclinic Middle East to provide Covid-19 PCR testing at home for its UAE-based travellers.

Similar to what’s on offer to Dubai passengers, passengers can book a test with Mediclinic  to arrange the home test – call 8002022 or send an email to [email protected].

While a negative Covid-19 test is not required for every destination that Etihad Airways operates, some countries do require one. A full list of specific destination requirements is available on Etihad’s website.

No details of cost were available, but Mediclinic charges AED300 for the home visit test in Dubai.

Test results will be provided within 24 hours of the test swab reaching the laboratory. Passengers should print and submit the negative test result to a check-in agent at Abu Dhabi airport on the day of travel, if it’s required by the destination.

“Enabling home PCR testing will remove much unnecessary stress from the travel experience during this challenging period,” said Dr. Nadia Bastaki, vice president Medical Services, Etihad Airways.

Bastaki added: “These measures are also a reflection of those being taken across Abu Dhabi, which has been a world-leader in its response to the current Covid-19 pandemic, including vaccine research, mass testing, and community sanitisation programmes.”
