A taste of Japan on East Coast

JAL Hotels Co Ltd is set to make its debut in the Middle Eastern market, with the opening of a 257-room property on the East Coast of the UAE.

JAL Hotels Co Ltd is set to make its debut in the Middle Eastern market, with the opening of a 257-room property on the East Coast of the UAE.

The Hotel JAL Fujairah Resort & Spa, currently under construction on the strip of beach in Dibba that it shares with Le Meridien Al Aqah and the recently opened Fujairah Rotana Resort and Spa is set to open on May 15.

“Fujairah has been attracting a lot of attention as a popular resort destination among international travel planners and MICE organisers,” said Frank Gueuning, general manager of the property. “Our presence here in Fujairah gives all potential guests a choice, and any traveller, tour representative or agent will benefit as now there is a variety of accommodation and services available to them.”

All rooms at the property boast a balcony with oc-ean views, as well as high-speed internet access and flat-screen TVs.

Leisure facilities span a diving centre, gym, Zen spa, and conference halls.

F&B outlets include Japanese fare at the Icho Teppan Grill, the all-day dining restaurant Breeze, Indian and Thai cuisine in Marco Polo, and Lebanese cuisine in Al Nokhada.

“It is a new venture for JAL Hotels Co Ltd in the Middle East and they bring an element of Japanese culture to the region,” said Gueuning. “In many ways, our services and facilities in the resort will have a genuine Japanese influence, which is very important and very popular.”

Two more five-star Nikko Hotels are planned for the region. The 478-room Hotel JAL Tower Dubai, a Nikko Hotels International property, in autumn 2008, and the 350-room Hotel JAL Bahrain Resort & Spa, in 2009.
