Indian celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor slammed the in-flight meal served to him on an Air India flight from Nagpur to Mumbai.
Kapoor took to Twitter to share photos and his opinion with more than 2.1m followers on Twitter.
Unimpressed by the content, quality and even temperature of the food Kapoor called out the airline for the meal.
Sanjeev Kapoor unimpressed with Air India meal
Kapoor said: “Wake Up @airindiain. Nagpur-Mumbai 0740 flight. Cold Chicken Tikka with watermelon, cucumber, tomato & sev sandwich with minuscule filling of chopped cabbage with mayo.
“Sugar syrup sponge painted with sweetened cream & yellow glaze.
“Really! Is this what Indians should eat for breakfast?”
He shared three images of the meal along with the tweet.
His comments re-opened the debate about the quality of airline food in general, and on the service in particular.
Quick to respond, a spokesperson for the airline said: “Sir, your input is vital to us. As part of our ongoing service improvements, starting tomorrow, our partners Taj Sats and Ambassador will take care of this market.
“I am confident that moving forward, you will like the meals onboard more”.
Other customers shared experiences, positive and negative, of their experiences dining and travelling on flights.
Following the prompt response from Air India, Sanjeev Kapoor sent another message saying: “Appreciate your response. I mean well & sincerely hope there is a thorough audit of services so that flyers consistently get a great experience.
“I will continue to support all sincere efforts. Today’s flight; service by crew and on time performance deserve a thumbs up.”
