Dubai’s Emirates has announced the launch of a meal pre-ordering service for passengers. Travellers will now be able to order their in-flight meals from 14 days to 24 hours in advance of their flight.
The initiative aims to provide a preferred meal choice to passengers as well as to reduce overall food wastage.
The service will be implemented from July 25 in Business Class on all flights to and from Dubai, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and London Stansted.
The service is set to benefit the customer preference tracking and cabin crew reports through the existing AI-enabled service. This data helps facilitate menu planning and optimal food loading to deliver a premium in-flight dining experience.
Emirates enhances onboard dining experience
14 days prior to their flight, passengers will be able to access the onboard menu on the official website or the Emirates application and choose from the available dishes. Additionally, passengers will also be able to make arrangements and pre-order special meals if required.
During the time of travel, the cabin crew in-flight will have access to a custom built application which will have information regarding the meal selection to be able to serve passengers their item of choice.

The airline plans to expand the service to other destinations in the network soon and will be closely monitoring customer feedback from the initial phase.
Other digital services available by Emirates includes check-in, digital boarding passes, itinerary management and digital menus.
