California-based Fatburger is set to make its UAE debut.
Franchisee Khalil Asfour of UAE-based Vetra Investment plans to open his first Fatburger restaurant in Dubai in 2008.
In a crowded hamburger chain sector, the company has differentiated itself by aligning with celebrities as franchise partners.
Fatburger recently opened its first location overseas, in China, at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, partnering with rapper Pharrell Williams as part of a multi-store deal in that country.
In the US, Fatburger is expanding in various markets around the country.
This year its total number of new restaurants should run in the teens. Next year, it is shooting for 30 new units.
