French hospitality giant inks deal for new Downtown Dubai hotel

Construction of Novotel Downtown Dubai will start in February 2017, with opening planned prior to Expo 2020

French hospitality giant AccorHotels has announced the signing of a management agreement with Acropole Holdings Limited for the Novotel Downtown Dubai.

Construction work on the hotel will start in February 2017, with an anticipated opening date prior to Expo 2020, the company said in a statement.

The Novotel Downtown Dubai will serve as an internationally branded upper-midscale option and will offer 266 rooms.

The hotel will also include five food and beverage outlets including an all-day dining restaurant, a sports bar, a rooftop lounge bar and a lobby café, in addition to a number of meeting rooms. There will also be a swimming pool, health club and spa.

Mahesh Ramchandani, spokesperson for Acropole Holdings Limited, said: “We are pleased to have signed an agreement with AccorHotels to manage our upcoming hotel in Downtown Dubai. We believe that this partnership with AccorHotels will be a fruitful collaboration for Acropole, given AccorHotels’ strong track record in the region and globally as one of the top performing international hotel operators.”

Olivier Granet, managing director and chief operating officer AccorHotels Middle East, added: “The development of the Novotel Downtown Dubai is a step forward in providing greater diversity for guests in an area that predominantly caters to the upscale and luxury market.

“Demand in areas like Downtown Dubai is consistently high as it is in the vicinity of important tourist attractions and business districts. We expect this momentum in demand to continue in the run up to Expo 2020 and beyond.”

AccorHotels currently operates 87 hotels in the Middle East, encompassing over 26,300 rooms across the luxury to economy segments. The Group’s regional network also includes 80 hotels under development, bringing close to 24,000 additional rooms to the Middle East.
