Hilton Hotels Corporation’s luxury brand, Conrad, has broken into the UAE capital with the signing of a new property, the Conrad Abu Dhabi, it was announced today.
The move is part of Hilton’s expansion plans in the region. The Conrad hotel – Hilton’s most global luxury brand – is set to open at the end of 2009, becoming Hilton’s fourth Abu Dhabi property and adding to its already 15 established hotels in the Arabian Peninsula.
The Conrad Abu Dhabi is owned by Mazrui Holding and will be managed by Hilton Hotels Corporation.
“The Conrad Abu Dhabi is our first partnership with Hilton, and the first Conrad in the capital itself,” said Abdullah Mazrui, chairman and CEO of Mazrui Holdings.
The hotel will be located on the Abu Dhabi Corniche and will open with 380 guest rooms, each occupying a minimum floor space of 50 square metres in addition to 80 serviced apartments to be positioned around a private lagoon.
“The Conrad Abu Dhabi is the second offering from the new Hilton Family of Brands that we are introducing into the Arabian Peninsula,” said Matt Hart, president and CEO of Hilton Hotels Corporation, during the signing ceremony with Mazrui Holding at the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).
Plans for a Conrad Dubai are also well under way in a bid to add to the growing Conrad portfolio, it was announced.
