Hoteliers signing up to DaeX

Dubai hoteliers have embraced the automated web-based booking service DaeX, with 54 hotels signing up to connect, according to the product’s creators.

The web service interfaces with a hotel company’s central reservation system (CRS) or a hotel’s property management system to provide tour operators, wholesalers and corporate clients with real-time automation of bookings.

Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai general manager Michael Nugent said the system provided customers with a heightened service through a “smoother, prompter and more efficient reservation system”.

“Dubai continues to be a highly competitive market and in the coming year the number of five-star hotels in the region will increase considerably, meaning that service will truly be the differentiating factor,” he said.

“This efficient reservation process allows us to create and maintain trusting relationships with key clients such as tour operators, corporate clients and wholesalers, which of course has a positive affect on our reputation in the market.”

Nugent said the automated system was ideal for dealing with operators and clients in different time zones, and because it was linked to the CRS it ensured bookings were allocated correctly, which reduced the number of overbookings and limited the peaks and troughs in occupancy levels.

“So far DaeX has delivered on its promise and has created a smoother reservations process,” he added.

“This however does not make our employees obsolete. The Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai does not want this system to replace our team, [but] rather to assist them.”

The full advantages of the system to Dubai as a destination would only be seen once more properties had joined, Nugent concluded.
