Hyatt has announced plans to open its first hotel in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, through a management agreement between a Hyatt affiliate and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU).

The 215-room Hyatt Place AlUla is set to open by the end of 2025, expanding Hyatt’s presence in Saudi Arabia, the hospitality giant said in a statement on Tuesday.

The hotel will feature two dining venues, meeting facilities, a pool, and a fitness centre. It will participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty programme, which serves 51 million members globally with benefits including room upgrades, complimentary nights, and late checkout options.

“We look forward to adding Hyatt Place AlUla to our growing portfolio of properties in the region. This significant project underscores our commitment to expanding our brand presence in key leisure and business markets. We are thrilled that this upcoming hotel will provide more choice to our World of Hyatt members looking to explore the culture and beauty of AlUla,” Ludwig Bouldoukian, Regional Vice President, Development, Middle East and Africa, Hyatt said.

The property will be situated within 25 kilometres northwest of AlUla International Airport, providing access for international and domestic travellers.

The location offers proximity to Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra, and the 12th-century AlUla Old Town, which houses outdoor dining venues and retail shops selling local crafts.

“The agreement with Hyatt advances RCU’s regeneration of AlUla as a great place to live, work and visit. Hyatt Place AlUla will create jobs for the community and add to the range of accommodation options for tourists and business people. Collaborations with established and knowledgeable operators such as Hyatt support the regeneration of AlUla County and honour its legacy as a hospitable meeting place for people from diverse cultures,” Abeer AlAkel, CEO of the Royal Commission of AlUla (RCU) added.

The destination features an oasis with palm trees and citrus groves, rock formations, desert canyons, and valleys.

It served as a central point on the ancient Incense Road trading route and houses multiple heritage sites including Jabal Ikmah, known for its rock inscriptions and petroglyphs.
