Ramada Worldwide is undergoing rapid expansion in Saudi Arabia, with managing company Riyada International Hotels and Resorts planning to open another five hotels by the end of this year.
Riyada managing director Muhammad Al-Amir said the company would open two properties in Madinah this month, with further properties to open in Dammam, Al Qassim, and Taif later this year.
Other properties are earmarked across the country in Mecca and Al Khobar.
“We have positioned ourselves a bit higher than Ramada properties in other countries in the region,” Al-Amir explained.
“We have an advantage because Ramada hasn’t been in the market for a long time.
“We are heading towards [delivering] a five-star property, with some limitations on facilities. If it is a small property, then it has to be boutique, but if it is a bigger property then we go higher than the Ramada standard.”
Al-Amir said the company’s policy was to establish a presence in every major city in Saudi Arabia, with the company on track to meet its goal.
“Our plan is to reach 15 hotels in five years, but I think we will achieve it in three years time – this is our second year and we have finished 10,” he concluded.
