Ramadan at AlUla: Stargazing, iftar night hike, movie screenings

The historical destination offers various experiences for visitors during the holy month

AlUla, Saudi Arabia’s oldest cultural site, now a tourism destination has announced multiple experiences for the month of Ramadan. Visitors can pick from stargazing to an iftar night hike as well as staycations and open-air movie screenings.

Adventure under the stars

At AlUla visitors have the chance to indulge in quiet reflection under the starry desert skies, specially curated for Ramadan, the experience includes a tour focusing on the stars and constellations followed by a grilled dinner around a campfire.

The experience is for those aged 8 and up and costs SAR330 for adults and SAR275 for children.  

Available from March 22 to April 22, the whole experience lasts for six hours, starting at 4:30PM and ending at 11:30PM.

Iftar night hike

Visitors at AlUla during Ramadan can experience an Iftar night hike, located within the Shaaran Nature Reserve, participants will indulge in an iftar meal followed by a 4KM walk through the hidden valley at night.

The experience is for those aged 7 and up and costs SAR330 for adults and SAR275 for children.  

The experience is ranked as medium difficulty due to walking on soft sand.

Available until April 22, the experience starts at 5PM and ends at 9:30PM.

  • 5 PM – Meet at Husaak Adventures AlUla
  • 6 PM – Arrive at the Hidden Valley, prayer break & relax
  • 6:30 PM – Iftar
  • 7:30 PM – Begin the night hike
  • 8:45 PM – Finish and depart for AlUla
  • 9:30 PM – Return to Husaak Adventures AlUla

A minimum of four people are required to run each experience. If minimum requirement is not met, the experience will be rescheduled or participants will be offered a different activity.

Staycations

Banyan Tree, Habitas and Shahary Resorts are offering Ramadan staycations during the holy month.

Guests can book staycation packages that include spa treatments, in-villa Suhoor, Iftar menus, yoga, meditation sessions and more.

Cloud7 at AlUla offers plans that include traditional storytelling (hakawati), open-air movie screenings and Ramadan-inspired amenities and decor.

Last week, it was announced a new 45-metre suspended ladder attraction and a giant mountain top swing.

The AlUla Stairway‘ is a 45-metre suspended ladder for thrillseekers to climb and features a zipline down back to the valley.

The ‘Giant Swing‘ is suspended in the air within the AlUla canyon and will swing through the high canyon walls in a 70-metre arc.

Saudi Arabia’s AlUla, is a heritage site with over 200,000 years of history, home to some of the world’s ancient cultural sites, sandstone mountains and oases.
