Senior adds Maldives to his product portfolio

Oman Tourism’s GCC trade representative, Mark Senior, has formed a similar partnership with Maldives Tourism.

The Bahrain- and Dubai-based destination marketing specialist, who works under the Afkar Marketing banner, signed an agreement last month to take charge of the Maldives Tourism PR and marketing campaign across the GCC.

“I will be responsible for developing business for the Maldives through the travel trade as well as working with consumer lifestyle publications to raise awareness of the destination,” he told

Senior identified honeymooners, young couples and travellers looking for luxury short breaks and specialist holidays such as diving and fishing as Maldives Tourism’s target market.

“It’s ideal for the Arab market as the country is Islamic; the food is prepared to Halal standards and The Maldives is just a four-hour flight from Dubai,” he added.

Senior’s role will also involve working closely with the region’s airlines to establish more services between the Middle East and The Maldives.

Senior is currently preparing to promote Oman and The Maldives at Arabian Travel Market and trade road shows and fam trips for both destinations are on the cards. A family summer guide for Oman is also in production.
