The Sofitel Melbourne has finally completed its multi-million dollar refurbishment, which has seen all public areas and rooms receive a complete makeover and a new executive lounge created.
As part of the room revamp, the 10 50th floor suites received an overhaul, which have since hosted several celebrities and VIPs including the UK’s Prince Edward, the Duchess of York, Lord Jeffery Archer and Prince Michael of Kent, as well as Luciano Pavarotti, Joan Collins, Jane Fonda, Priscilla Presley and The Rolling Stones.
New suite features include American oak, granite benches and chenille fabrics, while The Royal Suite also boasts a large spa bath with gold mosaic surrounds and Aquavision TV – the first of its kind in Australia -which does not fog up.
The largest two suites, the Premier and Royal Suites, offer a butler’s pantry, dining for eight guests, interconnecting rooms, and plasma TVs in both the living rooms as well as the bedrooms.
Sofitel Melbourne’s new executive lounge, Club Sofitel on the 35th, floor boasts views of the city; intimate meeting areas; private check-in and check-out, one-stop concierge for restaurant reservations, tourist information, and luggage storage; a recreation room with the latest electronic games and DVD movies; a lounge/dining area with three large plasma screens and seating for 88 guests; a boardroom for formal meetings with cutting edge AV technology; a unisex shower; wireless radio systems with headsets; workstations. Club Sofitel guests have exclusive access to the club with breakfast, all-day refreshments, a fully stocked bar.
