A popular Belgium waffles franchise has opened in Dubai with the help of the government’s agency to support small and medium enterprises.
Yummy Waffles Cafe opened in Dubai Festival City on Sunday under a franchisee agreement with Dubai SME, the Department of Economic Development agency mandated to develop the SME sector.
The cafe is part of the So Good Company Franchise, best known for making waffle dough.
It already has stores across Europe and in North America, South Africa, Turkey, Hong Kong and mainland China.
Chairman Abdul Salam Hammadi said the Dubai cafe also would serve some Arabian flavours.
He praised Dubai SME for helping to bring the brand to the emirate.
"We believe our initiative will serve as an inspiration for the entrepreneurial community and add a new flavour to Dubai's rich and varied mix of eateries,” he said in a statement.
“Entrepreneurs in Dubai are growing bolder and venturing into new partnerships with a comprehensive support system extended by the government and institutions like Dubai SME."
Dubai SME CEO Abdul Baset Al Janahi said the agency aimed to encourage entrepreneurs and start-ups in Dubai and international franchises were an opportunity to acquire global competencies, while expanding on them by adding an Arabian touch. For all the latest gourmet news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
