Internet Protocol to enhance Net security

An international Internet conference opening tomorrow (Monday), is to cover the topics surrounding Internet architecture evolution, with specific emphasis on the ‘more secure’ IPv6 Generation Internet protocol replacing the current IPv4 system

The Gulf Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) Summit Internet conference is to start tomorrow (Monday). The event will cover issues on IPv6, promoting the new protocol’s abilities that are said to create a quality and secure Next Generation Internet.Mr Latif Ladid, president of the Global IPv6 Forum and vice president at Telebit Communications indicated the differences between the old system, IPv4, and the IPv6 protocol that has been a ready standard since 1995. “All such devices will need their own Unique Resource Locator (URL) or address on a network,” said Ladid. “The present IPv4 address system is limited by its 32-bit size to a total of approximately 4.2 billion IP addresses on networks. The next generation Internet Protocol, IPv6, expands the space used to create the groups of numbers from 32 bits to 128 bits. This apart, the new protocol will also enhance security and administration of the Internet,” he said.The event is sponsored by Etisilat and will be inaugurated by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister.
