IsoHunt back in action

IsoHunt.com is back online a week after it was shut down due to an on-going lawsuit.

IsoHunt.com is back online a week after it was shut down due to an on-going lawsuit.

The popular BitTorrent search site was closed on January 16 by its US ISP as a result of a lawsuit filed by the Motion Picture Association of America against the site and six others for allegedly enabling users to easily find and download illegal content.

On the very same day its site was shut down, IsoHunt managed to find a new ISP in Canada to host its servers. However, according the firm, it faced a number of hardware issues during the site’s infrastructure migration, which led to the slight delay in its reappearance online.

While the site was closed, the IsoHunt team requested donations via Paypal to help with operational costs and the development of the site. In a posting on the site yesterday, Gary Fung, the owner of the IsoHunt, revealed that donations via Paypal had reached US $4000.

He went on to say, “We’d like to thank everyone who donated funds over the past few days. We really appreciate your support and will be back in action very soon.”

Regular users of the site are overjoyed that it’s back online. One user by the name of Shinseijo stated in a forum on the site, “We missed you, thanks for all the hard work to get the site up and running.”
