Oil and gas, IT and real estate offer the best career growth prospects in the UAE, according to new research.
Bayt.com, the Middle East job site, and YouGov revealed in a new survey that 24 percent of respondents said oil, gas and petrochemicals offer the best career path, while 18 percent picked IT and e-commerce while 14 percent highlighted prospects in real estate and construction.
The survey also showed that the industries most attractive to women job seekers in the UAE are education (24 percent), healthcare (24 percent), human resources (21 percent), and hospitality (20 percent).
Bayt.com said banking/finance, IT and advertising/marketingare perceived to hire the highest proportion of fresh graduates while the industries with the most competitive packages are perceived to be military/police, followed by engineering, automotive, and HR.
Another findings include that almost a quarter of UAE respondents have changed their industry at least once in the past two years while more than half of the respondents in the UAE (58 percent) are considering an industry change in the next few months.
The top three reasons for considering industry change are a better salary, better career growth, and better work-life balance.
Data for the survey was collected online in August and September, based on a sample of 3,525 respondents from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan.
