Kuehne+Nagel has begun construction on its warehousing facility in Dubai Logistics City (DLC).
The company is planning to commence operations at the facility by the middle of 2008, following the completion of phase one construction, which will include 17,000m2 of warehousing space.
"Kuehne+Nagel is aligning its activities to meet the requirements of the dynamic Middle East logistics industry," said Werner Kleymann, regional manager of Kuehne+Nagel Middle East.
"At the heart of this development will be our integrated facility in Dubai Logistics City, which will provide us with the perfect conditions to push and leverage our growth targets," he added.
Total capacity following the first phase of construction will exceed 20,000 pallet locations, with over 5000m2 of handling area for value added services, such as kitting and final assembly activities.
In addition, dedicated storage and handling equipment will be implemented for customers from the hi-tech and pharmaceutical industries.
"The Middle East is a very important market. Ultimately, our objective is to become one of the region's top five contract logistics providers," said Kleymann. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
