KEO International Consultants (KEO) has been appointed by First Bahrain Real Estate Development Company to master plan and design a US $450 million (BDH 169 million) development in Bahrain's Seef District.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed. The development, which will be spread across a 21,000m² plot of land opposite the new Bahrain City Centre Mall, will feature a four-star hotel, serviced appartments and office and residential towers.

"As a growing real estate development company, it is important for us to be aligned with a partner such as KEO, whose wealth of expertise and experience will enable us to realise our vision for our Seef development," said First Bahrain general manager Amin A Al Arrayed. "We will be working closely with KEO to design a new and exciting community, combining residential, office and hospitality concepts that will meet the market's increasing demand for innovative and pioneering new projects."

KEO International Consultants was also appointed earlier this week by Kuwait Investment Authority to design its new headquarters.

The company's design was selected out of a total of six provided by design firms from Europe and the US, including NORR, WS Atkins, Cambridge 7, Hamzah and Yeang and Fentress Architects. KEO's design features a six-storey tower, rising 220m.

KEO has also designed masterplans for Mohamed bin Zayed City and Emerald Gateway in Abu Dhabi, along with the design of Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi and The Pearl in Qatar.
