KM Holdings’ hotels branch launched

Newly formed hotel company Tamani Hotels and Resorts has plans to expand its Islamic-based business model internationally in the next three years.

Newly formed hotel company Tamani Hotels and Resorts has plans to expand its Islamic-based business model internationally in the next three years.

The company is a subsidiary of KM Holding's hospitality and leisure management arm. Tamani chief executive Alain Guernier said the company already had six properties at various stages of construction around Dubai, with two in the marina area, two in Business Bay, one in the Parkland area behind Emirates Mall and one on Sheikh Zayed Road.

"We have a business plan looking at having 12 to 15 properties signed within the next three years," he said.

"We don't want to be a Dubai operator, we want to be an international operator looking at opportunities in places we feel our business model will fit. We are looking at Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain, Malaysia and Indonesia."

The company's first hotel, the 243-room Tamani Hotel Marina, is scheduled to open in the Dubai Marina area this summer.

Guernier said the company's adherence to Islamic values would not compromise the hotel products.

"Shariah compliance doesn't mean that we are going to be old-fashioned, or we are going to be limited in our level of service," he explained. "It means we respect Islamic values and what is acceptable for the religion, then we develop and work on a business model where we will provide very new and attractive hotels, with a lot of technology in it."
