Kuehne + Nagel reveals Russian expansion

Kuehne + Nagel has revealed its strategy for growth in Russia with plans for more than 300,000m2 of warehousing across the country in the next three years.

The plans follow a move earlier this year of relocating its regional headquarters for the North East Europe region from Warsaw to Moscow. Countries covered in this region also includes, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Ukraine and Lithuania.

"Our strategic expansion plans are a strong confirmation of our commitment to support customers develop and extend their business considerably further across Russia," said Clemens Abt, Russia national manager, Kuehne + Nagel.

"Our medium term objective is to position Kuehne + Nagel as one of the country's leading contract logistics providers," he added.

The plans hallmark the logistics provider's focus on the Russian market, which it first entered in 1992. Kuehne + Nagel currently has 70,000m
2

of warehousing spread across six sites in Moscow, St Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don. Services are dedicated to the requirements of the retail and consumer goods and electronics industries.

The company has scheduled operations to begin in new facilities before the end of the year in St Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Samara and Vladivostok.

"With investments in facilities, technologies and staff, we are developing high quality logistics operations in the country's key consumer markets. For some time already we have been accompanying international companies and retail chains setting up activities," said Abt.
