Kuwait appointed lawmaker Ali Saleh al-Omair oil minister in a new cabinet on Monday and chose former commerce minister Anas al-Saleh to head the Finance Ministry.

Members of the cabinet resigned last month after friction between government ministers and the elected parliament.

The OPEC member state's oil policy is set by a supreme oil council and is unlikely to be affected by the change in ministers.
