Kuwait's oil minister said on Wednesday that proceeding with a refinery project with China would depend on how it would benefit his country.

"We are not ready to go ahead with the China refinery project unless it achieves sufficient benefit to us," Ali al-Omair told parliament.

The minister appeared to be referring to stalled talks with China's Sinopec regarding a joint venture refinery in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province.
