Video: Sandstorm blew bank notes out of the machine as it was being filled by employees
Residents in Kuwait were shocked to see bank notes raining down the street after a sandstorm blew money out of an ATM which was being filled by bank employees.
A video of the incident has gone viral on Youtube and social media websites. While some reports have claimed the incident took place in Dubai or Saudi Arabia, verification of the buildings where the video was filmed, it appears that the incident happened in Kuwait. Midway through the video, the name Burj Jassim (Jassim Tower) appears on a building outside where people are gathering the money. The presence of a FatBurger outlet, also located at Burj Jassim (pictured below) would support the belief that the video was shot in Kuwait.
The Daily Mail, which also falsely claimed the incident took place in Dubai, claimed that around 50 notes, worth around $750,000 escaped from the ATM during the sandstorm.
The incident allegedly took place on February 11.
"It doesn't happen every day. Everyone was amazing this was happening," one eyewitness was quoted as saying.
