NEW HOPE: Kuwait is reexamining proposals to extend working hours for public sector employees.

Kuwait is reexamining proposals to extend working hours for public sector employees, after earlier discussions on the subject were shelved eight months ago.

The country’s Civil Service Commission (CSC) is set to resume joint talks with the interior and education ministries, Al-Qabas reported.

The paper said that talks will focus on introducing a new working hours schedule, in which civil servants' working day would begin at 8am and finish at 3pm.

One concern is that overnight change could lead to major road congestion, the newspaper said, adding that talks were also due to take place on recommendations to extend school hours.
