Some infected individuals, like many previously, had returned from trips abroad.
Kuwait's Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported 13 new swine flu cases, pushing the country's total number of laboratory-confirmed cases, so far, up to 111.Eleven Kuwaiti nationals, including three children, a "bedoun" (stateless) man and an Indonesian expatriate tested positive for the virus, Ministry spokesman Youssef Al-Nisf told KUNA.
"Eight of the new cases proved to have been in contact with swine flu patients and the remaining five have arrived in Kuwait recently.
"The patients are now receiving the necessary medication at hospital and are in a stable condition," Al-Nisf noted.
All of those who have had close contact with the infected individuals will undergo medical tests as a precautionary measure in line with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, he added.
The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the health situation created by the swine flu outbreak, Al-Nisf said, noting that all necessary measures were being taken to contain the virus.
