Authorities have created a team to identify and evict single men who are living in homes designed for families
Kuwaiti authorities have established a widespread team to identify bachelors living in family areas, four months after announcing fines would be introduced, Kuwait Times has reported.
Minister of Communications and State Minister of Municipal Affairs Essa Al Kandari said the team included members from Kuwait Municipality, Interior Ministry, Public Authority for Civil Information, Manpower Public Authority and Ministry of Electricity and Water.
Kandari said violators would be evicted without redress and electricity would be disconnected if the whole property was inhabited by bachelors.
At the time of the announcement in November, Kuwait Municipality acting director general Ahmad Al Manfoohi said the authority was discussing building new cities especially for bachelors but there is yet to be a decision.
About two-thirds of Kuwait’s population are expats, many of whom are single men working in labour jobs.
