Kuwait transport firm gears up for growth

One of the largest land transport companies in the region, Mubarrad Transport Co., has streamlined its operations by implementing a new ERP solution to cope with its recent expansion.

One of the largest land transport companies in the region, Mubarrad Transport Co., has streamlined its operations by implementing a new ERP solution to cope with its recent expansion.

Mubarrad, a Kuwaiti firm owned in majority by A’ayan Leasing and Investment Company, recently increased its fleet and plans to double its staff numbers. In order to cope with these changes and improve efficiency in its processes, it decided to deploy Sage Abra HRMS 500 and Sage Line 500 ERP.

The integration, which system integrators Bader Al Mulla & Bros. began in April, will take Mubarrad from a completely manual environment to full process automation.

“In order to meet growing market demands, we have increased our fleet to 1200 trucks, from 800 last September, taking our total asset worth to over KD20 million [US$69 million]. Also, currently we have over 700 employees,” said Khalid Al Obaid, IT manager of Mubarrad Transport Co.

“However, we were still running our operations using a simple system and were finding that our entire business system, from finance to inventory, simply could not keep up with the rapid growth of the company.

“So we needed to take immediate action to improve three critical things – integration, communication and efficiency.”

The Sage system will run on a central server at the head office and users from other locations will access the system via the web. It is hoped it will give Mubarrad accurate customer and vehicle profitability, streamline its invoicing procedure and improve payment collection.
