UPDATE 1: Date revealed for pop star's first performance in Middle East.
Atlantis, The Palm has confirmed Australian popstar Kylie Minogue will perform at the grand opening of their flagship resort in Dubai.
Resort chiefs said on Wednesday that Kylie will make her debut performance in the Middle East at a private concert attended by 2,000 guests, including business leaders, politicians, actors, musicians and members of the Dubai royal family.
It said invites will be sent out this week for the grand opening event on November 20.
The resort officially opens on September 24 - despite a recent fire on September 2 that destroyed the hotel lobby roof and caused smoke damage to the outside of the main hotel building - but the grand opening will take place a few weeks later.
A source close to Kylie’s label told Arabian Business last month that the grand opening will take place between Nov. 20-24, though the exact date had still to be finalised.
The launch of Atlantis has become one of the most talked about events on the Dubai calendar, with several global superstars linked with the grand opening, including Michael Jackson and Madonna.
The 1,539-room resort will encompass a 46-hectare site with 17 hectares of water-themed amusement parks, an open air marine habitat, beaches, boutiques and restaurants.
