Labour clusters to be built in the garden city

Aldar Properties is to build a US $136 million (AED499 million) labour complex in Al Ain with a capacity for 16,000 workers.

Aldar Properties is to build a US $136 million (AED499 million) labour complex in Al Ain with a capacity for 16,000 workers.

The client is the Higher Corporation of Specialised Economic Zones.

Aldar will develop eight clusters for residential development, six of which will include seven residential blocks with a main dining hall and open green spaces. The remaining two clusters will have a central kitchen, shopping mall, medical clinic, an administration building and a mosque.

The project will be built in phases and has been earmarked for completion in 2009.

"The agreement signals a commitment to the innumerable hard workers of Al Ain and the UAE. It is important that the various types of workers are housed properly and their accommodation is maintained carefully, as they are a very important aspect in the development of our country," said Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, chairman, Aldar Properties.

"Aldar will ensure that the standard of the residential cities is on a par with the organisation's other high quality projects. The residential city will address the issue of rapid growth and development," he added.

The workers accommodation project in Al Ain complements an initial agreement to develop the same high quality residential city in Abu Dhabi. Details of the project are expected to be announced soon.
