An Indian worker has died in Bahrain after falling 26 floors from a construction site in the Juffair area on January 23.

An Indian worker has died in Bahrain after falling 26 floors from a construction site in the Juffair area on January 23.

Satpal Singh, 30, had been employed to clean at the worksite only two days before his death, according to a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN).

Few details are available about what caused him to fall but it is understood the worker had been trapped in a temporary lift shortly before the accident, said the report.

Singh, who worked for Bahrain Aluminium, was a native of the Kapurthala district of Punjab and leaves a wife and a 3-year-old daughter in India.

Labour Ministry officials were unavailable for comment.

It is the second death at a construction site in Juffair this year after a man was killed earlier this month by plank of wood that fell from the 20th floor of a tower.

Sitaram Murlidhar, 42, was from Rajasthan and worked for the Ahmed Al Qaed Building and Contracting Company.
