Dubai Civil Aviation has signed an agreement with Park Air Systems (PAS) and Data Processing Systems (DPS) to provide Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Centre with landing system technology.
The technology will help pilots to position their aircraft for optimum landing by providing information on the correct pitch, speed and distance to the runway. It works through a computer screen located in the cockpit, where the pilots must align horizontal and vertical lines, which demonstrates the best angle of approach for the aircraft’s descent.
The landing system is built from internationally accredited software, which enables aircraft to land in conditions that would normally be deemed hazardous and could cause traffic to be diverted to another airport.
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has approved the technology, which is also recognised by the UK CAA Safety Regulation Group.
